Killeigh
A monastic village and home of a famous greyhound.
Killeigh (Cill Aichidh, “church of the field”) lies about 8 km south of Tullamore. An abbey associated with St Sinchell was reputedly founded here in the 6th century, followed by a medieval priory and friary; St Sinchell’s holy well and rag tree survive. Killeigh was the birthplace of the champion greyhound Mick the Miller, remembered with a statue on the green.
Why it matters: early Christian heritage that complements Daingean’s later story.
